Health & Safety Lead

Our client is a well-established international contractor delivering large-scale construction projects across Europe. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and project delivery, the company operates across a diverse portfolio including commercial developments, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, and mission-critical data centre facilities.
Due to continued growth within the data centre sector, our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to oversee all HSE activities on a major data centre project in Finland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the day-to-day health, safety, and environmental management on site, ensuring that construction works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, client requirements, and local regulations. The Health & Safety Lead will work closely with project management, subcontractors, and HSE teams to maintain the highest safety standards across the project.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the implementation and monitoring of all HSE activities on site
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, and local regulatory standards
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
• Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and accidents, providing root cause analysis and preventative measures
• Deliver and oversee site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions
• Promote a strong safety culture across all site teams and subcontractors
• Work closely with project management and subcontractors to ensure safe sequencing and coordination of works
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation, reports, and performance records
• Monitor and report on HSE KPIs, compliance, and performance to senior management
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site safety, environmental performance, and sustainability standards

Requirements
• Degree or professional qualification in Health, Safety, Environmental, or related discipline
• Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role on construction projects, ideally large-scale or mission-critical projects
• Strong knowledge of construction HSE legislation, standards, and best practices
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and influence safe working behaviours
• Willingness to work on an international construction project in Finland
